About

THOMAS LEA

Thomas bought his first camera (an Olympus OM-1 SLR) in 1974. He is entirely self-taught in photography. He learned by shooting on the streets of San Francisco and studying the technical books of Ansel Adams (Camera & Lens and others). He also studied and admired the work of the FSA photographers, particularly Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans, and he was fascinated with the early work of William Eggleston, especially the photos in William Eggleston’s Guide. Thomas worked as a professional photographer in San Francisco for over 25 years specializing in editorial, documentary and industrial photography. He now lives and works in Boise, Idaho. His work has been published in Artweek, Business Week, California Magazine, Forbes, Fortune, and The San Francisco Chronicle. Copyright of all images on this site belongs to © Thomas Lea 2009.
